We hired the RamVan for a trip to Scotland after we suffered a devastating house fire in which we lost 90% of out belongings. We were expecting a vehicle that could handle the trip without any problems as we were looking forward to getting away from all the misery at home. What we got was a 20 year old tired and battered old thing that had definitely seen better days. We managed to get there without any issues, but on the way back we had a puncture. We called out the AA who had trouble getting to the spare wheel which was located underneath. We got going again and the power output stopped working, meaning we had to use whatever battery remained on our phones to use Google Maps. When we returned the vehicle back, we had made sure it was cleaned to a reasonable standard. We swept and mopped the interior and cleaned the outside, which wasn't really dirty to start with. When we took it back, we were told that the level of cleanliness was below the required standard. I served 16 years in the army, so I'm very capable of washing a vehicle down to a high standard. The documentation advised the vehicle only needed to be cleaned to a reasonable standard, but when they told us it needed doing again, I took it to the local garage and washed it down. When I returned, they still weren't happy and also complained that WE had apparently broken the cigarette lighter. It seemed clear they were not going to be happy until they had all of my deposit, so I took photos and disputed their claim. After almost 11 weeks, Goboony eventually ruled in my favour and authorised the return of my deposit. I strongly advise travellers to stay well away from this vehicle and Ram Construction in Polegate. They were totally unreasonable in their demands and lacked any compassion at all with regards to our recent troubles. October 2026
