Adventure is Out There! Our "Up" Inspired Journey in Coral 🗺️🏞️ Our experience with Simon and his motorhome, Coral, was flawless from start to finish, beginning with an exceptional handover. Simon was incredibly thorough, warm, and welcoming, taking the time to guide us patiently through every feature. He even provided Coral’s traveling guide book, which was absolutely brilliant and packed with helpful tips that gave us total confidence before we even set off, making the initial transition completely stress-free. 🗺️✨ With a true feeling that "adventure is out there," the road took us up the beautiful Northumberland coast and into Scotland. For our family of four, staying completely off-grid each night for five unforgettable days was a dream. This seamless adventure was made entirely possible by Simon and Jodie's incredible attention to detail, ensuring Coral was perfectly equipped and prepared for the ultimate off-grid freedom. Staying in Coral was an absolute joy; she provided a perfect blend of adventure and comfort, acting as a cosy, safe sanctuary at the end of every day. 🌲🌌 What makes Coral truly special is that she genuinely feels like a home rather than a business. The meticulous care, pristine cleanliness, and thoughtful touches throughout make it clear that Simon and Jodie pour their hearts into her. She is far more than just a motorhome hire—she became a true home on the road, and anyone would be honoured to stay in her. We cannot recommend booking with Simon and Jodie highly enough! ❤️🎈

Stunning, eye-catching van that was really cool to drive and got loads of attention. Came with camping chairs, windscreen cover for privacy, mattress for the pop top and roll out bed. Angela was excellent at communicating and always there to help. There were a few things that weren't available / working, which was quite inconvenient so I can't give it 5 stars but overall it was a decent van. Things to note, there is no air con in the van, so driving 3 hours during a heatwave was VERY uncomfortable. The passenger window control on the driver's side was not working (which was pointed out to me on handover day) so I couldn't operate it while I was driving. There is a phone charger in the front, but it's only for USB-C so I wasn't able to plug in (the lead was coming out of the air vent so you can't access wherever it's plugged into to change the cable). There's no apple CarPlay or built in satnav, so you'll have to follow your phone (and hope the battery doesn't run out if you can't plug it in). There was an option to connect to bluetooth on the screen settings but my phone couldn't pick it up. The fridge was pretty useless in the heat and a bit smelly, although the freezer compartment was quite good (not frozen, but it was cold). The water bottle under the sink was the wrong size for the hose attachment so I wasn't able to connect it to the tap - Angela said she put the wrong bottle under there. The pop top bed was only just long enough for me, at 5'6" with my feet right at the end and my head at the top of the ledge. Other campers I've stayed in have a sliding hatch to enclose the roof section to give you more lying space for your pillows, but this didn't have that. The USB port in the back was not working (Angela mentioned this on handover) so I was supplied with 2 power banks instead, which was fine for me on my own, but would've struggled if there were more people with me. The heater didn't work as the leisure battery was low/flat - I reported this to Angela and she said she'd just replaced it so maybe a loose connection somewhere. So yes it was a very cool (hot!) van to drive and a real head turner, but a few annoying things broken on it were quite inconvenient. Angela is aware of all the above things that weren't working and said she'd get them sorted so hopefully will be sorted for the next people. Great communication and very quick to respond to questions. Excellent handover.

Campsites in Scotland

Campsites in Scotland are plentiful and range from the fully kitted out hyper-modern sites to more rural camping sites. Most Scottish campsites have at least basic facilities as the country is a much-loved destination for adventurers and tourers from across the UK and beyond.

Drumroamin Farm Caravan & Camping Site is located near the expansive woodlands of Galloway forest park. The site is a favourite of those touring the area as it has excellent facilities and good access to the surrounding areas of interest. It can also be one of your first stops as you head further north!

Of the many things to do in Scotland, the experience of having the freedom to roam the Highlands in a motorhome and even undertake the NC500 is surely one of the most memorable. The Highlands evokes the idea of Scotland everyone has in their imagination. An amazing blend of culture, history, architecture and unparalleled scenery. With it's rugged landscapes, breathtaking lochs and quaint villages, it is hard not to fall in love with this country when visiting. There is plenty to do and discover here for the adventurous. Visiting Scotland is the ideal way to unwind and get away from the usual clutter of life, with countless hikes and walks to do around the lochs heather moors and headlands of this rugged landscape! You can get lost (not literally of course) as you journey through the beautiful Highlands and at the same time experience the jaw-dropping scenery.

Events in Scotland

There are plenty of events in Scotland. Have you ever wondered what a more regional take on the Olympics would be like? If so, you should definitely check out the Highland games. The games are full of traditional athletics, With some very classic events like tug-o-war, track and field events and the quintessentially Scottish caber toss. Add to these even more fun events like Highland dance competitions and piping all set typically in beautiful rural Scotland, you’d be a fool to miss out on the fun! Given that there are 80 across scotland beginning in May and carrying on right through to September, simply do some research to find one near you when you are on your road trip! If you are looking for a more urban event, there are always fantastic events in Edinburgh with the Edinburgh Festival in August and the Christmas Markets being two highlights.
