We hired Alistair's camper van 'Lottie' just for a couple of nights as we wanted to try out the experience. We stayed quite local at a campsite near Deal in Kent, in case it wasn’t working out and then we could just drive home. Initially I wanted to hire a smaller van for ease on the road but I'm so glad I didn't, as the extra space for the three of us was very welcome - mostly because Lottie boasts a full king size bed at the back with a proper and very comfortable mattress, much to the delight of my wife and son who slept on it! The pull out 'rock and roll' style bed that I slept on was still really good too though. My concern over the size of the van on the road evaporated within about 15 minutes as Lottie was so easy to drive and with a good amount of power too. Alistair was excellent - a lot of work has gone into turning his van into a camper - he was really thorough in explaining how everything worked and was also easy to get along with. I had a slight issue lighting the hob while we were out but Alistair picked up the phone straight away and it was sorted quickly. The weather was a bit chilly on the first night but inside the van was it was nicely warm and we didn’t need the heater. Lottie has a really good vent fan in the roof which can extract or draw fresh air in and runs virtually silently on a low setting - we had this on at night to keep the air fresh and It was probably another reason we slept well, as sleeping badly was something we were concerned about and don’t really do camping for this reason. Couldn’t have asked for a better van and an accommodating host. Super comfy and well maintained. Anything we weren’t sure on Alistair was on hand and we put right straight away. Will definitely be using him again and highly recommended. October 2024
