How nice that you want to go out with a camper and it will be even more fun with an older camper like this. She is called De Rooie Donder, is a Volkswagen T3 from 1988 and has had two very caring owners before this. We are still very happy with the purchase 5 years ago and we never thought that you can become so attached to a means of transport. We have seen so many cool, beautiful places with this and now we want to share it with others. Countries such as Norway, Sweden and the Czech Republic were very special, but also weekends at a campsite in the Netherlands or to a festival.
This bus is suitable for 2 people. The size of the bus is large enough to stand upright in it and small enough to park very easily (very small turning circle). It is a very good therapeutic bus to relax because it has a cruising speed of 90 km / h. Nice driving on the right and you don't care about the traffic anymore.
There is a compact kitchen with a 3-burner gas stove, refrigerator and sink. You can sleep comfortably at the bottom by laying the cushions of the bench flat.
Bonus:
- With this bus you save money because a high roof offers a lot of storage space! You fill the bus with provisions so that you do not have to buy in expensive foreign supermarkets
- The high roof makes it easy to stand without having to lift the roof first
- You can pick up along the highway near Utrecht and you can leave your car here for free in our parking lot. This way your car is safe at our door. We are also easy to reach by public transport.
- Because the passenger seat has a turntable, there is more seating space
- Are you going surfing? The shelves can be placed on the inside of the cabinets (distance = … cm). It can hold up to two boards (no longboards)
- The Rooie Donder is a diesel. The advantage is that it drives a bit cheaper and you can make more kilometers (1:12).
- Because it has a very small turning circle, parking is very easy
- The white, insulated roof provides some cooling and the fan in the roof also helps. It can also be used as an extractor for cooking
- To make it easy for you, we have placed our own camping chairs, table, kitchen inventory, coffee maker, fresh bed linen and kitchen textiles on the bus. We can go through this list before you leave so you can be sure you don't forget anything
Things to keep in mind:
- For some European cities there is an environmental zone that the Rooie Donder is not allowed to enter (fine for own account)
- The Rooie Donder has no power steering. This is especially getting used to turning when driving slowly
- For people of 190 cm and longer, the bed is really too small
- Recently the tank floater has been performing slightly less well. This means that the pointer of the tank is not as reliable. With a full tank (60 liters) you can drive about 700 km
- You can drive up to 95 km/h but she is made for cruising, after all it is vacation. Cruising speed is 90 km/h. Hill or mountain up is possible, but the average goes to 45 km / h
The engine runs nicely and the MOT is good until May 2025.
