Last year we bought our T6 Multivan with Reimo pop-up roof and then further furnished it as a comfortable camper. We tested it as a travel car on holiday trips to southern Germany and Italy, and as a camper for another 2 weeks in the Netherlands.
It is a fantastic travel car and a very nice camper. After a day of travelling, we always arrive relaxed at our destination. Maneuvering on narrower roads or in towns or cities and parking is essentially no different than with a normal passenger car. The smooth engine makes it easy to conquer every mountain.
The car itself is equipped with every luxury: 150 HP engine, DSG automatic transmission, cruise control, air conditioning, parking sensors, media system, heated seats, etc.
The car is also excellent as a camper.
In the living area, the sliding rear seat (3 seats) can be easily converted into a comfortable bed over the entire width of the car (approx. 150x185). The second bed in the pop-up roof has a size of approx. 125x190.
Behind the driver's seat is a compact kitchen unit with sufficient storage space for kitchen utensils, kettle and coffee maker. The kitchen block offers space for a 1-burner gas appliance/sink combination with water tap, clean and dirty water tank (2x 10 litres) and a table. An extra separate grill/cooker for outdoor use is part of the permanent inventory.
In this bus layout, we opted for a separate Dometic CoolFreeze cool box with a capacity of 21 litres. When we are on the road, the cool box is behind the passenger seat. At the destination, the cool box moves to the driver's seat. This appears to work excellently.
The co-driver's seat is rotatable, so that it can be used as a seat in the living area.
We have installed 230V in the camper van with an external CEE connection and charging equipment for both the car battery and the household battery. An electric heater can be used for the somewhat cooler evenings.
The further equipment includes the standard table and camping chairs built into the sliding door, curtains, multirail with matching retractable awning with separate side wall, and other useful accessories. For cycling enthusiasts, a bicycle carrier is available (on the tow bar).
