Things to do in West Sussex

Chichester is a beautiful and worth walking around for an afternoon to take in. The cathedral city has stayed very true to it’s architectural roots, full of old pubs and small roads to potter down and explore. Fishbourne Roman palace just west of Chichester is worth a visit if you want to know more about the cultural heritage of the area. The palace is home to the largest in situ mosaic collection in the UK as well as its oldest known garden!
If you like the idea of hopping on your bike for a day, consider the South Downs Way. Cycle along this 100 mile stretch of path that spans one of the UK’s largest national parks. The downs are full of lovely spots, woodlands, chalky hills and woodland creatures. If you wish to do a portion of it starting in West Sussex, you have the lovely choice of heading East to Brighton, or west towards Winchester. If you do head East, be sure to take a detour to Arundel, an old medieval town with an immaculate castle. It is a town that looks frozen in time. The buildings all look like they are from centuries ago and yet have been so well maintained as to almost look new. If you decide to head west towards winchester, we strongly recommend lunch in Queen Elizabeth Country Park. This hilly, heavily wooded portion of the South Downs has some awesome mountain bike trails as well as a plethora of paths, perfect for hiking or a family day out. Despite being a popular place to visit, the parks size means that you will often have the entire path to yourselves, allowing you to really experience all the nature around you.
