Welcome to Henry, our much-loved self-built camper van and home on wheels. Over the past 3.5 years, we have poured so much time, care and attention into transforming this Citroen Relay ex-delivery van into a cosy, practical and adventure-ready space that feels like a real home from home.
At the heart of Henry is a full-size fixed double bed with a comfortable Emma mattress, so after a day of exploring you can settle in for a great night’s sleep. There is plenty of overhead storage for clothes and personal belongings, while the large garage area under the bed gives you loads of room for walking boots, bags and outdoor gear, as well as housing the van’s main electrical system, camping chairs, table and levelling blocks.
Henry has been built to make life on the road easy, comfortable and flexible, whether you are staying on a campsite or heading off-grid. The van is equipped with a powerful 2400w AC power system, a 240ah leisure battery, 600w of solar and 240v hook-up capability, giving you the freedom to travel with confidence and enjoy all the comforts of home wherever you are. For those wanting to stay connected on their travels, Henry also comes with Starlink onboard (additional cost - please contact us for more information).
The kitchen has been thoughtfully equipped with everything you need to prepare proper meals on the go, including cooking utensils, plates, bowls, pans and mugs for your morning coffee or evening cuppa. You will also find a kettle, compressor fridge, one-ring induction hob and Ninja 8-in-1 air fryer oven, making it easy to cook anything from a quick breakfast to a hearty dinner. The onboard water system includes a generous 100L fresh water tank, full water filtration system and 20L waste tank, and there is also an outdoor water outlet with hose which is perfect for rinsing muddy boots, sandy kit or outdoor equipment after a day of adventure. There is even a small rechargeable hoover to help keep the space clean and tidy during your trip.
The front captain’s chairs swivel round to create a relaxed dining and living area with a table, giving you a comfortable space to enjoy meals, plan the next day’s route or simply unwind in the evening.
Henry is also set up to keep you comfortable whatever the season. For colder months and chilly nights, there is a diesel heater, a heated blanket on the bed and a thermal windscreen cover to help keep the van warm and cosy, while blackout curtains on the side windows provide both privacy and a good night’s sleep. In warmer weather, the roll-out awning, camping chairs and outdoor table make it easy to enjoy alfresco dining and make the most of your surroundings.
Despite being spacious and well-equipped inside, Henry is still easy to drive and practical to park, fitting into a normal supermarket parking space. He is fitted with all-terrain tyres too, giving extra confidence on the road in all sorts of conditions, especially in the ever-unpredictable British weather.
Henry has already enjoyed plenty of adventures, including five trips to the Scottish Highlands, where we completed the NC500, explored the Isle of Skye and visited the Cairngorms National Park. He has also travelled to the Lake District, Northumberland, Snowdonia, London, Devon and Cornwall, and even made it across to Belgium for a Christmas markets trip, so he is more than ready for his next adventure with you.
As Henry is a self-converted camper van, he does have a few quirky features, but we will make sure to explain everything clearly during handover so that you feel confident and ready to enjoy your trip from the moment you set off.
We absolutely love Henry and hope you will too.
