Vandalf the grey – 2 berth Volkswagen campervan from 2000

Wecome to Vandalf the grey, he may be old but makes up for that in comfort and syle. I have owned the van since 2012 and kept it well maintained. Working as a furnture maker this was my van but in 2019 I converted it to a camper using a mixture of Cherrywood, Ash and Birch. One of the van's key features is a kingsize bed (1.5x2m) with a 15cm latex foam topped mattress. The kitchen comes fully eqipped with a domestic 2 burner hob in a unit which can be easily removed from the van for cooking outside on summer evenings. If cooking inside, the van has a speed adjustable roof extractor fan. There is a 12v fridge which can double as a freezer, so will go as cold as you like. There is 25 liters of fresh water and a 36 liter grey water tank under the van. We have a small portable chemical toilet as an option, the down side of this is that it takes up storage space. We found on a four month trip it got used once, so now we have a loo/bucket for emergencies but in reality is filled with shoes. The solar panel and heavy duty battery means you can go off grid but not suffer the lack of chilled wine. There is a custom made canopy, which takes 10 minutes to errect and a table and chairs. A mattress cover and bottom sheet are included, other bedding can be supplied as required.
The van is old, a bit frayed at the edges but was resprayed so the paintwork is still good. The engine has low miles for the age and runs like a dream. This van is really comfortable. You can stand up inside, sleep in a fullsize bed and cook on a proper hob. This is a van for those who like to get away but relax in comfort.
