I want to be helpful to the people thinking of hiring Cyril so I am just going to list the pros, middles and cons! Pros Very good communication both the day before the hire and throughout. We had an issue during the hire, and Warren was very helpful with ways of trying to get it sorted. Very easy collection, Warren was going to be at work, but gave me clear instructions on how to collect Cyril and there were no issues. Bed was comfortable, although if you are taller than 6 foot you may struggle a bit with the length. We stayed in Cyril from Friday to Monday, and with only 10 mins charge per day, the leisure battery lasted the whole time with no issues. Was very 'retro' so if that is what you are looking for you are in for a treat! It was really fun. Lots of videos on Youtube detailing how to set up and work certain parts of the van. We went to a festival in Cyril, and obviously, being England, it rained and was very windy. I was SO happy that we had decided to hire Cyril, we were nice and cosy. I felt very sorry for those in tents! The hob and grill worked well, we managed to cook a fry up in it which we were very happy with! It was really fun to drive, been a while since I drove a vehicle with a choke! Lots of storage places for a small van! Fridge worked very well, kept everything very cold. It was a bit grubby in there but did not stop how well it worked. There are some essentials on board, tea bags etc. We didn't use any of it, but really lovely that it is there in case people get caught short. Cons The listing says luxury, it probably was when it was newer but definitely not now! Although still much more luxurious than a tent!! The problem I mentioned above was we could not get the water to work, Warren was really helpful, but unfortunately it still meant my partner had to suck on the water tap until the water came through which he wasn't thrilled with doing! The water did come through eventually but was only really a dribble so it was hard to shower. The shower room is tiny, so if you are a bigger person you will struggle. I was ok but there are some who may not be. That said, it was still lovely to have access to a shower! Some of the Youtube videos are quite confusing, especially the one to make the bed as Warren tried to do it while holding the camera so you don't get to see a lot of the process but I worked it out! There were some parts of the van which were nice and clean but some that weren't. The blinds didn't work great, I think they must be the original ones and they were falling apart a bit so I was reluctant to touch them in case they broke completely! The brakes are not good at all, you have to really press down on them to come to a stop. There are some bits which are broken/missing, which given the age is completely expected, but I guess if it was my van I would fix or replace them. It may go against the retro vibe though, which Warren may be keen to keep. All in all, we would definitely use Cyril again! We had a great weekend! August 2024

Great camper. Everything I needed for my trip and once I got my head around the gas fridge etc… as I was completely new to camper hire and a few odd calls to Warren who was VERY helpful. I had a great time. My review was VERY delayed because I’m a little all over the place 😂🙏I loved being able to store my car safely for the duration which is a massive plus for me as I travel alone. I had a marvellous adventure on Cyril! He has everything you’d need for a comfy road trip camping holiday, neatly and tidily at hands reach and in such good condition. For 30 years old, Cyril is still as handsome as ever 🤭 and all his moving parts work a treat. Considering his size, lots of cute features, quite a lot of storage space and lots of light and headroom. Cyril was an absolute joy. After an initial ten or so minutes getting our bearings on the driving side of things, we got on our way and had a fab 4 nights. He’s an old boy but very well equipped and everything worked like a dream. We both showered daily, the fridge kept everything cool. The cooker everything we needed, the hot water system very efficient and the bed compact but very comfortable. We had great a nights sleep every night. We very much hope to use him again in the future! Warren and Jacqui were great communicators and provide videos to explain how everything worked. Overall we had a great experience. My daughter and I spent three nights in Cyril, wild camping. We picked Cyril up with clear instructions on access to the pickup point, but there were no instructions on how to work the facilities. Maybe if we had been parked at a campsite, we could have just plugged in, but we only managed to work the gas for the cooker off-grid. My daughter is a bit taller than I am and could not stretch her legs out on what is described as a king size bed. In the itinerary it mentioned linens, all we found was an uninviting mattress cover and a not so clean sheet! I am pleased we took some sleeping bags. Driving Cyril was an experience! Our first issue was not being able to close the drivers-side door, it took some slamming to finally get it to latch shut. Then while driving down the country lanes the side door flew open and my daughter had to hold onto it while I found a safe place to pull over and then spend five minutes trying to get that door to latch shut. We tried not to use those doors again! You have to double-clutch 1st, 2nd and reverse gears. It made getting back into my 30year old van (with no power steering) feel like driving a Tesla. I am happy to say we didn't drive far away from the pickup point, but finding a petrol station on the way back that had a vacuum to clean out the back was problematic. During our search for a vacuum, someone bumped into Cyril and knocked his back bumper off so we gave up and suffered the cleaning costs. Warren was very good about the bumper, and replaced it himself. But I was a little dismayed by their cleaning practices, (especially in these days) as they clearly do not venture to a deep clean between guests, if they had, they would have found the items that they said were missing. Jacqui was an excellent host. She was available for questions and concerns throughout our trip and provided clear instructions via video. As a novice campervan user I was a little nervous especially going back to using a manual. Cyril is 100% retro and a challenge but what an adventure. By the end of our 6 day trip I had mastered Cyril, he managed every challenging hill/ mountain and I was a little sad to hand him back. We covered about 700 miles over the 6 days, showered, ate and slept in him. He provided everything we needed for 2 adults and 2 dogs(although very snug), would I do it again YES 100%.
