Hi,
Meet Kermit! Our pride and a little bit our pet (for lack of a better one). In addition to Germany, Italy and France, he also does very well on adventures to the Texel campsites and camping pitches in exotic Woerden, Zwolle, Veere and Deventer. All in all, a fantastic addition to the family!
July 2020 we bought this former BAM bus from 2012 and we are still fine-tuning it (ongoing project). We have used a cozy sideboard, which immediately provides a homely setting and a lot of cupboard space. In this way you also create a wonderful kitchen worktop for cooking. We deliberately opted for a mobile cooking appliance that we recently upgraded to the 2cook2pro Cadac version. The sink comes from France and we transformed it ourselves! Recently there is a new brass tap that works on a pressure pump with a clean water tank and waste water tank in the cabinet. Thanks to the vinyl floor, the cozy green (of course) curtains, and the mood lighting, you create a super cozy atmosphere throughout your holiday, while you are cooking with your freshly tapped olive oil from the Italian farmer, for example!
Kermit is well maintained and provided with a major service every year. For example, he recently received new all-season front tires (Vredestein) with M&S inscription and the snowflake symbol. In addition, it is also equipped with a brand new starter battery. So it really drives like a charm, especially with the air conditioning (or heating) and cruise control on. You can blast through with him, but he drives the most economically around 100 km p / h or less. You can also navigate via the built-in tomtom (Netherlands/Belgium) and you have beeps that help you park. You can also connect your phone via Bluetooth to listen to your own hits and navigate that way. In addition, a new household battery has been installed (100ah from Beaut), to which the pump, the diesel heater/fan and the built-in lamps are connected. With the diesel heater you can even heat or ventilate the motorhome when you are not connected to the power. You can also charge your phone via this battery through a newly built-in USB port. The display (meter) shows how much power is left in the battery. recently Kermit also has a handy panel with which you can operate all electrical appliances. Extra fuses have been built in for safety and a main switch has also been added! Finally, you can still enter every European city, since it concerns a Euro emission 5 bus.
Inside there is a wonderful (easy) pull-out bed of no less than 1.70 m by 2.00 m, with thick comfortable mattresses from Swiss Flex. There is also room for a basket under the bed. If you go on a trip alone, we can also remove a mattress and you could possibly turn it into a "fixed" bed (from 170 to 110). The benches are very comfortable. Finally, we have a compost toilet for emergencies. We deliberately did not choose porto potti, because cleaning is not such a pleasant job plus you always have to empty it at a designated discharge point. Since we sometimes also like to spend the night in the wild, we have chosen this toilet bucket. We did purchase a porto potti, so if you prefer that yourself, that is also an option.
As for the camping gear; there are two simple chairs and a table. This way you can cook outside and have a drink under the sun cloth that you attach to the roof rack with two clicks and conjure up with two tent poles + guy ropes!
Finally, we have built the bed quite high, so that with a little creativity, 2 mountain bikes fit perfectly (unfortunately we no longer have them available ourselves, so you will have to bring them yourself). Moreover, there is also enough space left for all kinds of other stuff (badminton rackets, BBQs, Frisbee collection, fishing rods, inflatable canoes, etc.). Incidentally, Kermit is also equipped with a towbar, if you prefer to transport your bicycles in a different way. Unfortunately, we do not have a bicycle rack ourselves (because it also makes the bus a bit longer).
If you would like to meet us and Kermit, take a test drive or have any questions, we would love to hear from you!
Lots of love,
Frank and Els
