Dear reader,
First of all, thanks for the interest. This old Mercedes 508 army ambulance has been converted into a sturdy camper with which you can stay away for weeks in style.
My father and I have converted this old Mercedes 508 into a small house on wheels. We are very charmed by the appearance and the old, solid German quality. We love a cool interior with original features. The LED lighting and the recess in the sitting area that extends to the kitchen make it seem as if it is floating and gives it an extraordinary atmosphere.
All practical matters have also been considered. For example, there is a 150-watt solar panel on the roof of the camper that feeds the 90Ah battery. Of course, the battery can also be charged if shore power is available. The battery powers the 85-liter compressor fridge with freezer compartment, the LED lighting, 2 USB connections to charge your phone or tablet, the tap and even the audio system in the entire camper. The large kitchen and the two burners ensure that there is enough 'work space' to prepare a good meal. The sitting area can be converted into a spacious double bed (1.85 by 2.10) and two beds (1.85 by 1.40) can be hung under the cabin for 2 children.
The charcoal stove provides extra atmosphere and warmth for the cold nights. This camper is also very suitable for winter sports. The bottom of the bus has recently been treated with tectyl and re-insulated so that it remains warm even at -10.
Sufficient storage space has been created in the 508 so that all items can be taken along, including long objects. When you open the rear doors you will find a large storage space under the sofa where large (often outdoor) items can be transported.
With the extra large skylight, enough light enters the camper and you ensure optimal ventilation.
Numerous practical things have also been installed in the camper, such as:
- surround sound throughout the entire motorhome that can be operated via Bluetooth via your telephone or tablet, even when you are standing still. The radio works on the household battery.
- 2 USB chargers for charging the telephone (household battery)
- blackout curtains

BBQ ENTHUSIASTS ATTENTION
To make your trip complete, we have built the mini-smoker on a towbar. Our new showpiece. Easy to carry and works like a train!
Make unique low and slow bbq dishes with the entire group. We explain how you can make these dishes on our YouTube channel 'Camper Hector & Ton'. We now know exactly which wood you need, where you can buy quality meat and which bbq rub / lacquer you need. I can totally help you with this. Set aside an afternoon for it, because a little smoke takes 4 hours. But hey, while enjoying a nice special beer it will pass in no time ;).
The costs for a weekend are €25,-.
Yours sincerely,
Lars & Frank van Dyke
NOTE: keep in mind that the bus drives most comfortably at 85 km/h, is noisy and that you can drive for less time than with a luxury car.
PLEASE NOTE: the camper will be thoroughly checked for damage upon return. In case of damage, the amount of the deposit will be deducted from the invoice.
PLEASE NOTE: according to the rental agreement, the camper can be picked up between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM and must be returned between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. If it suits, the camper can be picked up earlier and / or returned later. If you want to be sure that you can pick up the camper early, book a day earlier. The same goes for returning.
PLEASE NOTE: if you arrive too late for the collection and return time or if you do not notify us in time (at least 24 hours in advance), we will charge one extra night. We cannot stand by and also have our own day schedule. It happens too often that we receive a message a few hours before the appointment saying that it will be 'a bit later'. We also do not want to get into trouble with the next tenants.
PLEASE NOTE: the mini-smoker can be rented additionally and is not included as standard.
