The motorhome owner explained to us in detail how the roadside assistance was arranged. Knowing that gave me a lot of confidence whilst I was on the road.

Yoke went on a long holiday last summer with a camper from Goboony.

Peter

After our first campervan rental via Goboony, we were so enthusiastic that we bought one of our own! We have now placed it on Goboony with peace of mind and are very satisfied with the platform.

Peter has hired campervans several times through Goboony.

Campsites in Manchester

Now that motorhome hire is sorted and the rental fees were relatively cheap, you can continue saving money through staying at a campsite. Though you will want to check out the city if you aren’t a local, most of the best places to pitch up are slightly outside the city proper. Campsites in Manchester are plentiful and whichever direction you head out of the city there will be one somewhere in the area. One of our favourite campsites near Manchester is Buxton Caravan Club Site. The site is ideally situated an hours drive south from the very centre of Manchester making it convenient for visiting the city as well as the Peak District which is only a short drive east from the site. Hebden Bridge is another great option if you decided to head north instead of south. It is unsurprisingly named after a nearby bridge. The site has just been renovated and offers great rates on midweek bookings. One key advantage of staying here is as a stop off on the way to the Dales or the Forest of Bowland.

Things to do in Manchester

Once you have seen the city and the more obvious things to do in Manchester, you might want to head out into the vast countryside of the Northwest. Perhaps you want to climb Kinder Scout the highest peak in the Peak District and ramble across the surrounding area. peak district towns also make for a great stop off if you are touring the area with the motorhome you hired. If you want to find out more about peak district towns, you can find our blog on the most highly recommended ones here. If you enjoy a spot of fishing, the Peaks District is renowned for the quality of its waterways, rainbow and brown trout and grayling. If coarse fishing is more your cup of tea, the three Reservoirs of Rudyard, Carsington and Ladybower make for great spots. To use any of these three you can buy a day ticket, however there are also privately owned lakes you can find that you can always arrange to fish in. Just remember to make sure you have everything you need to be allowed to fish in the area (this is typically a permit and a rod license available at virtually any post office).

Events in Manchester

There is a wide variety of events in Manchester to keep the entire family entertained. Park life is of course held in Manchester and runs for two days typically the 9th and 10th of June. If you plan to be in the area during this time, you might want to check the lineup and get your tickets. If you camp at one of the sites near the city with access to a train station, you can enjoy the party and return to your trusty hired campervan at the end of a fun day of music and revelry. If you are planning to go on a trip with younger children, a festival worth checking out is Geronimo Festival held at Arley Hall in Cheshire. The festival is for families with children between the ages of 2-12 and features childrens tv show hosts and all kinds of fun activities and events. This year is the first time the festival is offering the chance to go camping or glamping making it the perfect choice for a young family to take a campervan to.
