My partner and I had an amazing 10 days using Ruaridh's van to go around the NC500. The van is very simple to drive, and it is a great balance between space + practicality. I always felt confident, on the rare occasions it was needed! It is very well-equipped with cooking equipment, bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, and a phone mount for maps. Blackout curtains for sleeping worked well, and we never felt cold. The fridge is sufficient for two people, and the gas worked as expected. Ruaridh is really knowledgeable when it comes to motorhomes and gave us a thorough run-through of the van beforehand. He is also knowledgeable of the area, friendly and offered advice on our route plan. Would recommend "Thermos" for a trip around the highlands! August 2025

We had an amazing 8-day trip in the van. Perfect for 1-2 people. It is easy to drive, which makes it comfortable to take on some of the small, steep roads out there. Conveniently, the battery is charging very well when driving - we did not hook it up for electric once in the 8 days. Ruaridh is extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us a great induction making us very comfortable with the van from the beginning and helped us with advice along the trip - he was always easy to reach, quick to reply, and sent thorough, well-considered suggestions for hikes or safe places to camp, thanks to his excellent knowledge of the area. He also supplied practical equipment like towels, duvet, etc. for the car and kindly transferred us to and from the train station which was highly convenient. August 2025

Thermos was a great van to explore the highlands with, equipped with everything you might need and powerful enough for the climbs but slow enough to encourage you to lay back and enjoy the spectacular sights Scotland offers. Ruaridh was also great, he gave us great advice on our trip and was always available for any issue. July 2025

We came to Scotland on a flight and were unable to bring a lot of practical stuff for the journey in the van. So we really appreciated that Ruaridh had thought through most of the practical details and provided things - eg. washing up liquid, bedding, clothes etc. Ruaridh was very prompt and clear with all correspondence. And was a very friendly and personable guy to deal with. He provided more service than any other rental place we can think of. We highly recommend him. July 2025

Hiring 'Thermos' through Ruaridh was an absolute breeze! Ruaridh was very accommodating and extremely helpful, even suggesting some great places to visit based on my personal preferences, which did not disappoint. The whole experience was very professional but also very friendly and personable. Being picked up from the airport was a massive plus and saved a lot of stress and hassle. The van performed as expected and was very clean and organised. I was able to live comfortably off-grid for the duration of the hire and to boot, it looks great too! I can’t thank Ruaridh enough! What a great experience and one that has converted us to the campervan holiday life. From pick up to drop off Ruaridh communicated so well and explained everything so thoroughly that I was completely prepared for anything. Great trip covering nearly 500 miles in this VW which has been professionally converted allowing space and comfort. Home from home feel as fully equipped including a freezer compartment, 4 burner hob and grill allowing us to experience some off grid camping. Ruaridh gave us a full induction which gave me the confidence to enjoy the time spent in this great vehicle also knowing he was at the end of the phone was a great example of his passion for you to enjoy your time spent with the VW. We had an absolutely amazing experience! The campervan is incredibly well-equipped – it truly has everything you could possibly need. It’s very easy to drive, with the perfect size for manoeuvring and parking, while still offering a comfortable and spacious interior for two people. Ideal especially for those who don’t yet have much experience driving a van. Everything went smoothly with both collection and return, and Ruaridh worked alongside us to quickly overcome any small issues that came up along the way. The deposit was promptly refunded, and the whole process was completely transparent and honest. Ruaridh is exceptionally helpful, honest, and trustworthy. He was always just a call or message away, ready to assist whenever needed. It’s clear he has great care and affection for his campervans – you can really see it in the effort he puts into their upkeep, maintenance, and thoughtful optimisation. I can't explain how amazing my experience was with Ruaridh and the T4. Ruaridh put so much care and thought into everything about this experience. The van was kitted out with everything you would ever need to enjoy your trip and he explains everything so well. He also helped me out with recommendations which again were all very considered the the type of holiday I needed. I felt so well equipped for my journey in every aspect thatnks to his care and detail. I had the most amazing trip full of walks, hikes, wildlife, reading and stunning sunsets. It was genuinely touching to see how excited Ruaridh was to hear about my adventures. I couldn't have asked for more. I also got to meet Ruaridhs lovely partner Julia who makes truly beautiful pottery. I purchased two mugs and will think of this trip whenever I have a cup of tea and reflect on this mini adventure. I fell in love with the van and was very sad to say goodbye but I'll definitely be back and would wholeheartedly recommend hiring from this fine fellow. Our motorhome broke down and we hired thermos to do the NC500. Ruaridh’s help in a really stressful situation was first class. He helped with our plans and was easily contactable throughout our trip. Thermos is a versatile campervan and is ideal for the single lanes of the highlands. We are already thinking of hiring her again for next year. We came quite attached to the van and we’re sorry to say goodbye. May 2025
