Liked: Well organised, lots of facilities. Can walk into Saumur town.

Could be better: None

Liked: Location is excellent, toilets and showers clean, pitch a good size and mostly grass. Welcoming staff in reception. Good facilities. Overall an excellent site which I have visited many times previously.

Could be better: The restaurant menu was limited to a buffet of hot meat and fish stews with cold sides - coleslaw, shredded carrots etc, unfortunately not to my taste. Lamb was neck and probably not cooked long enough as very chewy. Saffron chicken was excellent. I would have preferred a wider choice of food such as burgers /pizza. The chef and staff were welcoming. A notice in the shower block said to remove footwear before entering the shower area, which I did. Good idea but doesn’t work as other people left muddy footprints on the tiles that I had to avoid after showering, resulting in gritty feet!

Liked: Friendly and helpful staff especially in the restaurant/bar.

Could be better: Only found 1 fresh water tap near us and this was at the motorhome service point. The wc emptying point tap and fresh water tap are close together and I saw someone washing out their cassette with the wrong tap. A separate clean water tap would much improve hygiene.

Liked: Our second time there to catch up with family

Liked: Campsite ideally placed to visit Saumur. Very helpful staff with a choice of pitches available, all of a good size. Lots of activities available and the pool was super.

Could be better: The choice of food in the restaurant

Liked: A clean and friendly site with brilliant views of Saumur Chateau and town.

Liked: Loved the location. Chilled out vibe. Shady pitches.

Could be better: Food wasn’t great in restaurant. When it rained, pitch turned into a bit of a mud bath. If site is full, bigger swimming pool would be beneficial.

Liked: We were 3 families with kids aged 8-13. They brought bikes and campsite size was ideal for them to have freedom and make friends. The pool is small and can get busy but again safe and ideal for the kids and being able to watch them . The town of Saumar is a 10 min walk which is great . Staff were very friendly.

Could be better: We have been to lots of different campsites in France and I would say that this campsite could do with more general maintenance. The sanitaires need a bit updating and there are not enough toilets . It’s also the first site where there are no toilet seats on most of the toilets. They also need cleaning a bit for frequently. Having said that they were adequate . The restaurant was not great and their pizza oven was broken when we were there but other than a drink we were quite happy having bbq’s on our pitch.

Liked: Relaxed camp site, helpful staff, amazing views.

Could be better: Soap in the toilets

Liked: Ease of getting into Saumur and facilities in and just around the site.

Could be better: Very pleased with all aspects.
