Our Silver Machine has been faithfully carrying our family around for the last decade. As such she is well equipped for camping in the summer or even, for the hardier adventurers, in a Scottish winter.

She is a VW Transporter T32 130 TDI LWB professionally converted by Jerba Campervans. As a long wheel base (LWB) she has a bit more living and storage space without compromising easy driving. Swivel plates on both driver and front passenger seat allow both to face into the living area when parked up to provide plenty of seating and space.

The front elevating roof is fitted with a roof bed supported in the storage position by gas struts. The TUV European crash test approved French RIB seat/bed gives a 140cm wide seat moulded for a comfortable travelling position and incorporating three integral inertia seatbelts and three headrests. The seat folds simply into a flat bed of 186cm by 130cm (6ft 1 inch by 4ft 4 inches), a bit more than most VW campervans.

The kitchen has a stainless steel two burner hob with electronic ignition and a grill beneath. The sink unit has a hardwood chopping board top and Florenz microswitch tap. The fresh water tank holds 38 litres with a 7 litre per minute pump. The electric fridge is a 12 volt low ampage 51 litre compressor fridge with 4 litre freezer box.

There is a complete 12 & 230 volt power system with 2 x 60 amp hr Varta leisure batteries and a control panel with leisure & vehicle battery voltage and 3 fused switches. Full charge system via a 230 volt exterior hook up.

A Webasto Airtop 2000S diesel fired heater with a thermostatic control will ensure you keep cozy even in the coldest weather.

If you need them we can supply a Khayam Motordome Classic drive-away awning at £35 per trip and an Atera Strada DL tow bar bike rack for four bikes at £28 per trip. A proper charcoal BBQ with cooking tools is included for free.

Bedding and linen, although not towels, are available on request at £10 for a double set. If you are using both beds you will need two double sets.

We are quite central, only two minutes walk from Edinburgh's Haymarket Station, so the pick up is quite easy.

It's important to note that you will need to arrange pay as you go cover for your self-drive hire from Dayinsure.

Thanks Richard All worked as demonstrated and was really comfortable way to sleep in a field during a storm :) Awning essential for anyone thinking about it! September 2021
Couldn’t fault the silver machine from start to finish, great running vehicle and the camper is kitted out with everything you need for a great experience! My partner and I had a great trip around the north coast of Scotland. Richard was very helpful with sorting insurance and pickup & drop off was very accommodating. Would definitely recommend to others. August 2021
Upon picking up the silver machine all seemed effortless. Richard communicated well & showed my travel partner the ropes. The silver machine is an older van with all your basics. The van doesn’t however have a heater which can be relied upon so makes travelling Scotland with its wild summer weather very unpleasant. It also leaks in the at the back when raining & cold air seeps in through the sliding side door as it’s not properly screwed on. Having reported our issues to Richard it has been brushed over & no good will gesture been offered. He’s clearly about the money rather than making guests happy. My advice would be there are better campers with working heaters & renters that do there up most to keep guests happy, choose one of those. Be sure to make sure that the inventory list which Is standard practice is checked when returning the van as you may find yourself with a large extra cost & not be offered to replace the item yourself but instead. Great 11-day trip and the van worked perfectly. It is well equipped with the essentials. Richard replied to my questions on the hour and even by phone, during the trip, when we had a small incident. Great host and I would repeat it without second thoughts. August 2021
A fine van - everything we needed - and Richard was great to deal with, especially for campervan newbies like ourselves! July 2021
We had the best time driving the Silver Machine over to Skye and through the beautiful highlands. Richard was fantastic and we hope to hire the Silver Machine again to explore more. June 2021
Great experience in the Silver Beast! Richard was so helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend and book again! May 2021
Richard and the Silver Machine gave us the best campervan experience I could imagine. The van is packed with everything you could possibly need. We were comfortable and cosy with our two wee ones on a two week trip to the north of Scotland. Richard is friendly and put us at ease about everything. Thank you so much! May 2021
This was my first trip in a campervan and the whole family had a great time. The awning and bike rack were a great addition and everything we needed was included in the van. Excited to book my next trip! Richard is a great host and very accommodating October 2020
Cosy wee campervan, has everything you need for a break. Fully equipped, plus bike rack as a bonus. Smooth booking system, easy pick up/ drop off. Thank you Richard, for sharing silver machine with us. :) September 2020
We hired the Silver Machine for an epic trip around Scotland's North Coast - this campervan was the perfect home away from home! The highlight of the trip was opening up the boot door to endless views of Skye's coastline and distant mountains - all while still in bed with a cup of tea. We were 2 couples travelling for 5 days - it was warm, reliable and has very convenient features! The awning was also a huge help in allowing us to spread out a little bit more - highly recommend it! Richard was incredibly accommodating and flexible with pick up /drop off and very friendly! Thanks again! September 2020
The silver machine did not disappoint, it was everything we needed and more for our trip round Scotland. Richard was also very helpful and accommodating through the whole booking and hiring process. Wouldn’t hesitate to hire again. September 2020
