After having rented a motorhome for two years, we drew up our dream layout on a terrace in France in 2019: a large fixed bed and a kitchen with plenty of space. At the beginning of 2020 we converted this Mercedes Sprinter bus, exactly as we wanted it. We have used as many people-friendly materials as possible inside, insulation with isovlas, cork and a lot of recycled wood.

The bus is from 2010 and has an automatic transmission, a diesel engine of 130 hp and rear drive. It drives like a charm and the automatic transmission makes it easy to drive away. The bus is 6 meters long and therefore just fits in a normal parking space, and is 2 meters wide (without mirrors) so you will also get where you need to be on smaller roads. In the mountains, you can manually shift if needed. It has an extensive radio with bluetooth so you can run your own Spotify list from your phone :-).

The bus has a large comfortable bed of 200x140 with slatted base and a thick mattress, so this bus is certainly suitable for tall people. The headroom is ~ 1.90 in the middle, because of the cork on the ceiling we have managed to keep as much height as possible. Under the bed are 3 large drawers to store clothes, so everything is within reach. The kitchen has 5 drawers to store all utensils and your stock, and a compact fridge.

The bus has two (normal) sockets for 230V that run on an inverter, for example to plug in a hand blender, laptop charger or small heater (up to 1000W). There is a sturdy household battery (~ 1.5 kWh) and a solar panel on the roof, so we never plug in on campsites, the solar panel provides enough.
Storage bins are available next to the bed, for example for books. At the head end there is a reading light and a larger lamp on both sides, and also a USB socket on both sides to charge your phone at night. In terms of lighting, there are also 3 ceiling lights in the kitchen with dimmer.

The passenger seat can be turned around to create a generous sofa in the living area. To do this, fold the seat away and turn the whole (system comes from England, especially for Sprinters). The advantage for us is that in good weather we can easily park the bus and cook and sleep without having to convert anything. The next day you drive away again. If you have a bad weather day you can turn the couch so that it is easier to sit inside, but we often sit on the bed ourselves.

We rent the bus as we use it ourselves, so with kitchenware (crockery + pans). You also get a table and comfortable (reclining) chairs (with footstools!). You must bring your own duvet and linen.

His name is Pistachio but the color green is still a work-in-progress because of Corona ;-).

If you want to come and see it before you want to rent it; send me a message.

July 2021
