Campervans are ideal in that they allow you to enjoy nature with a nice side of comfort. Whether you're searching for an adventure, or hoping to wind down in the peace and quiet, a campervan trip in nature is exactly the cure. The key is to enjoy the beautiful and rural surroundings without impacting them, respecting nature so that many more travellers can enjoy it after you! Here are our top tips on enjoying nature in a campervan.

Tip 1: Choose a campsite in nature

A great holiday in nature starts with choosing a place to stay. You could opt for wild camping, but be sure to check the regulations surrounding it in your destination. Alternatively, there are many beautiful nature-based campsites to stay at. They may be located on farm grounds, mountainsides or deep in the forest. A personal favourite is to stay at a beach-side campsite, or alternatively one by a lake or loch! Nothing beats waking up to the sound of waves and enjoy a sea view with your morning coffee.

Tip 2: Visit the most beautiful nature reserves

Just as there are beautiful nature-based campsites throughout the country, there are also beautiful nature reserves to visit. From the Lake District to the New Forest, the Peak District to the Trossachs National Park, you're truly spoiled for choice when it comes to nature reserves in the UK. You can either opt for a campsite within a nature reserve, or camp nearby and visit it for a day trip! You'll find plenty of things to do, such as hiking, biking and kayaking.

Tip 3: Do your part for nature

It's easy to stay at a rural campsite and think you're doing your part. Whilst supporting local and nature-based campsites is vital, you also need to consider your behaviour and the role that you play. The main rule of wild camping has always been to "take only photographs and leave only footprints". You don't disturb natural areas, as this can implact the flora, fauna and wildlife. You also shouldn't make a campfire without specific permission from the landowner, and you shouldn't dispose of any chemicals during your trip.

For example, many van travellers know about biodegradable soap and make an effort to use this during their trip. But then they won't consider the harsh chemicals in their toilet cleaners. To reduce the impact of your wastewater, use an organic and multifunctional toilet fluid like Solbio. This product is both vegan and eco-guaranteed and has been shown to work as well as a chemical variant. Solbio has only four ingredients: natural soap, natural citric acid, 100% natural essential oils and plant extracts. This 4-in-1 formula will clear up your waste tank, rinse water tank and wastewater tank. And by being self-cleaning, you'll get to spend more time enjoying nature and less time cleaning!
